I'm a newly-elected volunteer President of a cat rescue NPO in TN. I am a retired health care fund development professional and want to put my skill set to work increasing the charitable gift income of my organization. I have noticed that almost all the big life insurance companies now seem to have a "pet insurance" division. It seems to me that these companies should/could be interested in supporting rescue and shelter organizations especially if the funds donated went toward veterinary services. My thinking is if we rescue/shelter organizations vet our rescues and thus provide a healthy pet to a new owner, then that could reduce the amount and frequency of claims to a pet insurer, thus helping them financially.
Has anyone in this community group solicited or received donations/grants from pet insurers? Thanks for your advice and counsel.!
