  • 1.  Questions about long-term operation of a spay/neuter mobile clinic

I am hoping I can get connected with someone has experience with the operational side of running a spay/neuter mobile clinic.

We are a small foster-based rescue organization with a voucher program and annual free sterilization event but we really want to do more to serve what is basically a veterinarian desert to the south of our main headquarters.  Our finances would support the purchase of a mobile unit and we are slowly building our veterinarian network to help staff it going forward but no one in our organization (myself included) has experience in this area so it would be great if I could ask someone basic and at times seemingly obvious questions so that I can put together a long-term plan for viability.

Did you reach out to Fido Fixers? I think they supply vouchers. I live in North Mississippi and we are trying to get something started here. How do you fund your program?

I did and they want to know how many surgeries we would be able to do a day, how often etc.  The problem is I don't feel comfortable throwing numbers out without a better idea of some of the specifics of operations.  I have a decent idea of how a brick and mortar clinic operates but we don't have one ourselves currently so this is all starting from scratch.

We were lucky enough to have a bequest that would cover the cost of a unit as well as supplies, etc but we need to put a plan in place to move forward for taking care of all the different aspects of long-term operations.
