I just copied this from a review on the internet so consider the source. "I talked to a fish and game guy about it and he said that they only work if it's over 8' tall and they can't dig under your fence. You basically need a cinder block fence that goes down at least 3' below the surface because the second they can't go over, they will go under. You also have to have them installed on the entire perimeter of your fence. Coyotes are extremely smart and will T-Rex your fence, looking for a gap. They can also climb an inside corner, so you have to block those with some sort of protrusion. If you want to coyote -proof your house, your backyard basically looks like a prison yard. "

Thank you, Renee,
DIY is definitely a better price point for us. It looked doable - I'll be looking more closely at the options. I appreciate your encouragement.
BTW, we've set up shared enclosures directly off the back gate of the outer kennels for almost all our dogs - with $ from a Maddies grant!! Being able to get the dogs who are harder to handle right outside without having them run the hallway gauntlet has been a game changer. But I'm working with a dog right now who presents some special challenges and I want to be able to let her into the small outer enclosure off leash. We don't have any evidence she's a jumper, but we want to cover all bases to keep her contained and safe.
Thanks again,
Eudora

Hi Eudora,
I have seen coyote / fence rollers used successfully to contain dogs in play yards and outdoor portions of primary enclosures. I'm unsure how the maintenance, cost, or environmental impact compare to a fenced ceiling. However, for larger yards, ceilings may not be practical. One fencing company we used called them "powder coated coyote rollers."
YouTube has DIY instructions for making them. I'm unsure the safety/efficacy ... but could be something you try on one area to see how it works!
How wonderful that you are coming up with a way to provide more dogs with outdoor enrichment.

Hello,
At this point our shelter has no safe outdoor, off-leash fencing area for dogs who are potential (or reported) jumpers. I thought I saw something in Maddie's about ways to address secure fencing for these dogs but haven't been able to make my way back to it. Any pointers will be appreciated.
