Animal Advocates of Greater Lafayette does an annual Valentine's Day event I thought I'd share! We are NOT a shelter or rescue (intake prevention), so our event is about celebrating and highlighting the role of pets in seniors' lives. During "Heart to Heart" we deliver pet presents to local seniors: right to their door. We work with our local senior centers, and low-income housing to get lists of seniors, their pets' names, and what they need. Volunteers do follow-up phone calls if we need additional details. The teen program at a local library makes Valentine's Days cards for the seniors, and we include these in the gift bags. This is our third year, and we just get bigger and bigger--the community is very supportive of this event. Our packing party is this Saturday, and we will do deliveries on Sunday Feb 12.
