We requested and received a donated Go-Pro!  Excited to start using and showing different perspectives.  Working on "day in the life of a caretaker," "behind the scenes of intake," and "view from the other side" where we look at life from the perspective of the animal.

I love the perspective of an animal view! That is such a powerful tool to use in education to promote fear-free/low-stress handling practices.

I feel like I'm pretty much throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks with videos. Mostly we use them to highlight our adoptables. Our carestaff (but mostly only two of them) send videos and photos to me and I create the video from those and upload them to the various platforms and profiles. Original files are typically stored on my personal computer while edited videos are stored mostly on canva to help save space on my hard drive. I've already got seven dedicated to the shelter's files, so anything I can do to stave off the eighth is done!

Thank you for sharing! Do you enjoy Canva as a video editor? I'm so curious to see how their new AI feature will be integrated!

Canva has it's pros and cons. It's easy to use, free, has a great amount of storage, is accessible anywhere, and it seems like they're always updating and improving. Currently, I do find it's video editing features are somewhat limited in comparison to other programs (don't expect it to be a comparable substitute for Premiere or similar software), some of the editing can be a little clunky, and the audio library isn't the greatest. Overall though, I do like having the ability to create a video relatively quickly and easily adapt it to several platforms, and it's really easy to just create the video without sound and then add sound to it once you upload to TikTok or Instagram or wherever so you're not missing out on trending audio.

Talk about our work with feral kittens,
To show how to use a remote devise on traps

I Think the next one will be for Idaho Gives fundraiser about transferring free roaming cats back ant forth from traps to kennels.

Great questions. I am following to see what others are doing. We've tried a few different ways of making videos from creating educational videos sharing info about the types of animals we take in to cute short snips of animals doing what they do. ;). I am not happy with any of it. A volunteer videographer, someone with a little knowledge. is on our wishlist. Someone suggested to me that we should reach out to local high schools to get a couple of teens to come out every couple of weeks to take video and pictures. Can't hurt to ask.

What a great (and fun!) volunteer opportunity!

I would love to see more of the videos mentioned here! Thank you all for your contributions to this discussion. :)
