  • 1.  Virtual Dog Training Through Goodpup

    Posted 01-20-2023 08:08 AM
We have recently enrolled in a program with Goopup for virtual dog training. This is a program that is used within the community but can also be used for shelter animals. The perk of the program is owners can enroll in a week for free. When we did the orientation there was numerous shelters listed that also use the program. I am curious if anyone here has been using the program and if they are getting any feedback on if it is indeed helping with training? Or seeing data about returns decreasing for training/behavior concerns?

    Hi Amberly,

We have been working with them for nearly a year now. Although I think it is a great program, we can't get our adopters to sign up for it. I think we have only had two graduates the whole time we've been promoting it. We will continue to promote it because I think it is a great resource. I just don't know how to convince my adopters to give it a try!!!

We are going through the same thing right now; it is a great resource but a challenge for people to enroll. I think people have very high expectations on wanting an immediate fix, which as we all know is not how it works.

We've been using Good Pup for some time now and are very happy with it. Some adopters are still wanting to meet with a trainer in person, however, that is not the majority. The biggest benefit is that GoodPup training sessions are available so quickly so if an owner is struggling with a behavior it can be addressed quickly. I don't have data regarding the correlation between Good Pup and owner surrender/return rates yet but I believe we've seen a difference in our shelter.
