Hey y'all! Is anyone else hosting a Foster/Volunteer Holiday Party or something similar? If so, do you have a theme? We're still looking for ideas.

    Hi Jae,

We don't have a theme yet for this year but last year we did a superhero theme at our first volunteer appreciation luncheon. Since we are a farm animal sanctuary we hosted it at our farm and had a picnic. We purchased lapel pins that said "Volunteers are superheroes with heart". We printed & framed volunteer appreciation certificates that stated how many years they have been volunteering. We also printed up crossword/word search games with superhero themes and bought goody bags that had "bam", "wham", "pow" printed on them. Since most of our volunteers don't know each other we printed "Hi my name is..." stickers. In addition to them writing their actual name, they wrote their superhero name from one of those games where you choose your "name" based on a name that corresponds with the first letter of your first name and the month they were born. It made for a fun event and great conversation starter. Since we were outside we set up a screen on a garage door and ran a video we created with pictures of our volunteers working and loving on the animals. It was a big hit. I've attached a couple of pictures.

We just held our Foster/Volunteer Recognition event.  The only way we incorporated a theme was to decorate the room for the Fall season.  We gave engraved cat shaped crystal statues to those who reached the 25+ year mark, and a lot of others were awarded certificates (most cats fostered this year, most hours volunteered, most ringworm cases nursed, most bottle babies, etc.)  We had a table with about 10 smallish prizes, and gave out raffle tickets.  Throughout the recognition and thank you speeches, we pulled tickets and let them pick a present from the table and unwrap it.  They had a great time.  About 35 attended, plus some staff and board members.
