  • 1.  What incubator do you recommend for bottle raised neonatal kittens ?

    Posted 24 days ago

    Hello,

So i am a foster for neonatal kittens and looking for recommendations for the best incubator to purchase for bottle raised neonatal kittens? I have been taking in feline neonates  for a little over 10 years  on/off now but in the past 2 years i have gradually started taking in more and more litters of orphans and have gained a TON of experience with many of their struggles when being bottle raised. Over these past couple of years i have slowly began purchasing more and more things to help my fosters to thrive, I have now began fostering for my local humane society and have decided purchasing an incubator would probably be a wise idea however, I don't know alot about them besides knowing that they need to have a heat source, humidity control, and good ventilation. So, I am here today to ask what incubator you have all found that works the best for neonate kittens? Would greatly appreciate any recommendations on a specific one, and why ? :Please feel free to include any pros/cons you have found with your recommendation(s).

Thank you all in advance!! :)

We first bought the Rcom 90 bird brooder,  and then two Rcom 60 last year, which are smaller than the 90 and just as good for neonatal, plus take up less space. https://rcom-incubator.com The 90 is good for older sick cats and kittens and neonatal puppies. Our vet hospitals have several of them. Rcom models are super easy to use and would be the ones I would suggest. You don't need to go for the high end Curadle or one with nebuliser.

There is also the Brinsea brand, but some of those aren't as suitable for kittens so research those before you buy, https://brinsea.co.uk/ NB some vets sites do suggest Brinsea for kittens if you need portability, see https://www.incuvet.co.uk/incubators-for-kittens/ Note that website sells the Rcom under avian incubators . Sorry, I am in Portugal, so those are European sites,  but Brinsea is available in US.

Also, look at bird breeding sites and agricultural supplies places rather than Amazon for a better range.
