  • 1.  What to do when an animal passes?

I'd like to know what everyone does or how everyone grieves when they lose an animal in their care.

I'm asking this because on January 10th, we lost one of our mouse residents at midnight. She had a seizure and passed away in my hands, I've been heartbroken from the loss. I know domestic mice don't live long which sucks about rescuing them, I loved her deeply along with her siblings.

So I'd like to know what you all do when you lose an animal friend.

Come spring we want to bury her near our local cemetery where she won't be disturbed by my family or our dog residents.

I also want to do a direct action to fight against animal testing in her honor since she was a former lab mouse.

This is probably not what you are looking for, but the Kitten Lady has a really great video on grieving the loss of a foster kitten. We have this pinned to the featured section of our foster facebook page for the fosters to always have access to. We share this video regardless of whether it was a kitten or puppy that passed. https://youtu.be/o7B34AQVWNc?si=L_ZnHK-imO_uQhl1
