We live in a small town between Mobile Alabama and Pensacola, Florida.
We are the primary feeders and TNR's for this town.
This past year my husband has become ill, and in and out of hospital as he battles a life threatening illness.
I'm a native New Yorker and do not drive.
We have 3 volunteers who help us feed, but we've been having some issues with some of the sites we're feeding.
We need help-desperately with TNR and our problem with this is finding help to do so. I am feeling very overwhelmed as I am right now only working one day a week-I lost my other part time job due to husband being in and out of hospital and trying to take care of our large rescue household, help care for him, and prepare plates of food for the cats that need feeding around town.
Our plan had been, before our world fell in, to have a meeting with our local community and talk about TNR. Our local vet is on board and actually is the only one who does TNR here in this community. I pray for him nightly because he's in his 70s and his practice is the only one here that does TNR and works with community cats.
Our volunteers are great-but the one we rely on most is also feeling overwhelmed.
Recently a litter of kittens was dumped with their mom at one of the colonies. I have been trying to find out how to get them TNR'd but the rescue we have been helped by sometimes-she says she's overwhelmed as well. She has never come up my way to help-though it's barely needed.
Recently someone local borrowed my 4 traps and now one is missing because the rescue helped him get cats on his property fixed, and the rescue used a different vet who put their name on the trap and now we don't know where it is. I can't afford another trap right now.
I know this post is wandering-I'm sorry. I'm so very tired. The thing is, we need help very much especially now. I have been feeling so disheartened and there seems no one to help locally. I've reached out to other rescues but everyone here is 'overwhelmed'. Is there an organization that will come in and help us?
I feel so trapped and not sure of what to do anymore.
