Adoption Match making activity for Teens

08-21-2023 06:23 AM

This is a great activity we use at our week long Veterinary Science Summer Camp program for 7th to 10th graders. We typically do this lesson mid-week after they've toured our shelter and met some of our Adoption staff.

The goal is this activity is to help match the available pets in need with the available adopter(s) that are the best match for them! It focuses on the importance of having a conversation with your adopters so you can get to know them and their needs/interests, and how first looks can be deceiving!

For Example, there is an adopter labeled "the videogame family" and it notes that the first thing you learned is how the kids love video games, which implies they might need a "couch potato" pet. But in reality, they're a very active family too and could have an active pet!
