Loss of appetite in dogs can indeed be linked to both behavioral and medical reasons. Stress, environmental changes, or dislike of food can play a role, but it’s also important to consider health issues such as dental disease, gastrointestinal problems, infections, kidney or liver disease, or pain from another condition.
If your dog refuses food for more than 24 hours, seems lethargic, is vomiting, has diarrhea, or shows other concerning signs, it’s best to see a veterinarian promptly. Even mild changes in appetite that persist for several days should not be ignored.
