We recently tried a new tactic to promote our longer-stay residents - buttons! We purchased a button-making machine for our humane education program and used it to make these fun buttons that promote our long-stay pets. They say "Have You Met ____" or "Ask Me Why I Love ____"  and the pet's name. The staff that is front-facing (mainly adoption counselors) wear the buttons. They are great conversation starters and get your team in the habit of sharing information about our longer-stay pets. Our staff will often wear them when they are not working and are out and about to help promote the dogs. Customers really like them! We haven't been doing it long enough to really measure results, but staff and volunteers love them. When a dog is adopted, the new parents get a button to take home, too!
