We are a small animal shelter located in a rural county in South Carolina.  Transporting dogs North due to dog overpopulation is crucial.  Our transport started out small in 2008 with a coalition of three shelters.  The transport was run by two volunteer coordinators who developed a system by organizing volunteers and animals, creating templates, and then producing a run sheet.  This system grew into the shelter developing its own transport arm without the other two shelters about five years later.  We run three Facebook pages-one for the shelter, one for transport volunteers, and one for adopters.  Volunteers are retained and recruited with our Facebook pages and a new driver coordinator.  Many of our volunteers are adopters. Hundreds of thousands of success stories, pictures, and updates from owners, fosters, and volunteers regarding these much-loved dogs can be found on our Facebook pages which assists with our volunteer community.  Volunteer drivers are covered by their liability insurance.  I am attaching a .pdf I've written with a brief description of our current transport and how it works.
