"This year, we are doing an old traditional direct mail campaign. We haven't done that for a while and thought it would be worth a try again. We also found that completing the USPS nonprofit application makes it so we can use a local printer to print AND mail the letters for less than the cost of printing, folding, envelope stuffing, and stamping at regular USPS rates! It's a great time saver for us and our local printer is, of course, giving us a great discount on the mailing materials.  I attached a copy of the USPS form. For Line 9, animal welfare nonprofits are considered (04) Philanthropic. The nonprofit pricing is only for bulk mail (over 200 pieces at a time). You also have to use it at least once every 2 years or USPS will revoke the application. Current pricing is 21.2 cents versus 56 cents for a post card and 78 cents for a letter."
