Great question. There are courses and programs you can take to further your leaning and skills: 

• If you are in mental health or want to pursue your masters in social work, you can complete the veterinary social work certificate at Cleveland State University (where I am: https://health.csuohio.edu/social-work/veterinary-social-work-certificate), or University of Tennessee Knoxville. 
• If you are in animal welfare explicitly, you can consider the Human Support Certificate program (https://vetsocialwork.tennessee.edu/veterinary-human-support-certificate/)
• If you are not animal welfare nor social work, NYU has another opportunity (https://socialwork.nyu.edu/a-silver-education/continuing-education/certificate-programs/veterinary-social-work.html)
