  • 1.  Co-housing during detox and recovery

Does anyone know of detox and recovery programs that allow pets to stay with patients? What about ESAs?

Can anyone recommend papers on the subject or an expert to talk to?

    Hi Augusta!

If you haven't already, I'd suggest reaching out to My Dog Is My Home or their Co-Sheltering Collaborative.

I would love if you could share the information you get!

I am with a program that provides foster care for pets while their owners get treatment and the next step we want to take is to help facilities accept pets.

I was told by one person that CA Law prohibits pets but I need to look into this further.

    Hi Augusta,

Father Joe's Villages in San Diego allows for cosheltering during both detox and treatment. They will be presenting at the My Dog is My Home conference at the end of the month. I can gift you a discounted ticket of only $75 ($55 off the regular price) if you would like to attend. You can use the code "VIPfriend" when registering. I'll be moderating the session.

    Hi, Vickie,

Father Joe's is the only place I know that lets pets accompany owners during detox, other than a private pay in malibu.

I have already registered for the conference. Can't wait for  presentation and Q and A.
