    Posted 7 days ago

We (a nonprofit with limited funds) have unhoused people asking for protection for their pets' feet when walking on hot pavement. Has anyone found or made booties that are cheap, effective and safe (no chance of leaving overtightened booties on the pets)?  Sharing is appreciated.

Hi Augusta. We did a project in Las Vegas, and several pet families mentioned they got booties from Temu. I am not sure of the quality, but they said they were cheap, so easy to replace.

Hi! Something like this may work well, but they are a little tough to get on. Best used with some anti-friction goop in there. If you're not already, I would try an educational route with those you can.

This may sound weird but go into a service dog group on reddit or Facebook.  Us handlers use them all the time. Im just not sure of any cheap ones.

I will follow through on these ideas. The trick will be fit, safety, ie not too tight and won't create hot moist feet prone to fungus and bacteria growth.

IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SEW JUST TAKE SOME FABRIC AND MAKE TINIY DRAW STRING BAGS THAT THEY CAN ADUST THE TIGHTNESS ON THERE PAWS AND WITH DIFFERENT FABRIC YOU CAN MAKE GOOD PADDING.

I do have a sewer so maybe it's just a matter of selecting the right fabric to keep it simple. Draw strings are easy to sew, and bows are a good reminder to adjust.
