Hi,
My name is Jorge Delgado, and I work at the Humane Society of Sonoma County in Norther California. I am the Community Initiatives Manager; I oversee the development of programs to help people and pet in need.
We go by the name of Community Action Team. Our mission is to provide support to people and pets in our community, prevent animal surrenders and keep families together.
Before I joined the Animal Welfare Profession, I worked at the Redwood Empire Food Bank as a program and volunteer coordinator. I served my community for 7 years distributing food to undeserved communities. My dearest memories were working with local volunteers in the communities I went to, making friendships in different cities and working alongside my colleagues during natural disasters and the Covid 19 Pandemic.
I am a first-generation immigrant from Puebla, Mexico. I came here with my family seeking a better life and opportunities at the age of thirteen. My family and I came to live in San Francisco, a city that changed my view of the world in so many ways.
I had animals all my live. I was the kid that show up to the house with a dog that was given to me by the neighbor. I thank my mom many times for never turning my animals away.
My favorite hobbies nowadays are camping, hiking, disc golfing, going to the library, walking dogs, playing indoor soccer, exploring new restaurants, and breweries with my wife. I also enjoyed watching my 8-year-old daughter play soccer and my toddler son playing with monster trucks.
