Thank you @Anna Stout for this exciting news!

CO HB26-1229, "Supporting the Human-Animal Bond" - a bill initiated and led by AlignCare Health - took effect this week, officially becoming Colorado law!

The law acknowledges the Human-Animal Bond as a life-enhancing resource that impacts the length and quality of human life. It gives Colorado public health agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners a foundation rooted in policy to build pet-inclusive policy and programs, and it's a model that other states can look to. HB26-1229 formally acknowledges what pet families already know: that pets are family, and their companionship meaningfully impacts family stability.

You can review the law on the Colorado General Assembly's website.

We're grateful to prime sponsors Representatives Lisa Feret and Rick Taggart and Senators Judy Amabile and Janice Rich for championing this legislation!

    With gratitude,

    Anna Stout, MA, CAWA
