    Posted 6 days ago

    Hi everyone,

Congress recently introduced legislation that would allow service animal owners/guardians to use their HSA or FSA to cover veterinary costs and pet insurance costs for their service animal. See https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/9508/text?s=5&r=1&q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22people+and+animals+well-being%22%7D. The legislation would also allow pet owners/guardians to use up to $1K in pet insurance costs and $1K in veterinary costs for their pet from their HSA or FSA. "Pet" includes dogs, cats, and any domesticated animal kept for pleasure and not for commercial purposes. Hi Candice,

You are welcome! Given the upcoming elections and late introduction of the bill in the session, it may take a few tries to become law.

Thanks Stacey. Since more households have pets (70%) than human children (40%) in the U.S., if everyone reaches out to their Senators and Representatives, WE could get this passed.

Everyone reach out to your legislators!
