We are interested in learning about what other shelter are doing should a foster break in place protocols.  Does anyone do a 3 strikes program? Do you outline what constitutes an action?

We have been fortunate in not having issues with our fosters in any significant way. I think for us it would depend on what the violation was as some are more serious than others. We have had a few that wanted to take litter after litter after litter all at the same time so had to put a policy in place that only one litter at a time unless unusual circumstances exist. We were having issues with kittens being /getting sick when a person had multiple litters but since we put this policy in place, we have eliminated most of that. I do think it is a good idea to have guidelines in place offering the Director the flexibility to make exceptions.
