  • 1.  Panacur Intake Deworming Policy/Procedure

    Posted 11-12-2018 04:46 PM

    Hello!

I am looking for any information on policy and procedures of using Panacur as a dewormer at intake in a shelter setting. If your facility uses Panacur, does it use it at intake or wait until a fecal is run? If you use Panacur at intake, what is your procedure for dispensing? Is it one dose, 3 consecutive, or 5 consecutive doses?

Any help regarding these questions is greatly appreciated! Thank-you!

    Amelia

I am a fan of Panacur as it also cuts down on Giardia and Coccidia.  We do not do dispense it on intake but I wish we did.  We use it once a day for 5 days after a positive fecal.  For our general dewormer we use Sentinal Spectrum as it also has a heartworm preventative in it.  We use that at intake if the dog is under 6 months in age.  If over 6 months, we give it as soon as we have a negative heartworm test.
