What are the challenges you face as a Foster Caregiver & what would make it easier?

What are the most challenging aspects to fostering a pet? Is it letting them go, dealing with poop, containing puppies, preventing the spread of disease?

We are asking 10 multiple choice questions to anyone who has fostered a pet. This feedback will help us design a foster training program and foster supplies that will help make fostering easier, more accessible and creates better outcomes for the animals. TAKE SURVEY https://worldreadypets.com/all-surveys

Hopefully, this education will open up the option of fostering to more families. According to The Humane Society of the United States, as of 2014 there are about 3,500 brick and mortar shelters and 10,000 rescue groups and sanctuaries. With 1.5M adoptable pets being euthanized each year, that means that each rescue is putting down about 10 animals each month. If every shelter and rescue fostered just 10 more animals each month, no adoptable pets would have to be euthanized!

I gladly took this survey. Thank you for creating it! Based on our positive experience, I believe that, if possible, that the organization, volunteers and foster parents could work in their strengths (this takes open honest communication and acceptance of yourself and others) it would allow for more possibilities. Know yourself. Can you handle the hands-on care but not the adopting out? Are you great at organizing (rescuers in the community could call you, you could set up all the foster placements, and trips to and from adoption sites, or....?)Driving (to and from adoption sites, s/n runs, etc.)? Computer/tech or creative abilities (flyers, event listings, website)? Photography?!!! I stress this one because of how important photos are! What are your strengths and your limits? Share this with your local rescue org. and see if this can be worked out. Rescue groups-respect your foster/volunteers boundaries-please. You may lose them otherwise. Some dear souls have a hard time saying NO, but will eventually say no altogether. And nobody wants that! Thank you for...caring.
