Wondering how everyone did yesterday on donations. We found that the Facebook campaign really lagged compared to our usual results but donations from our email blast to past donors and adopters closed the gap and we made our goal.  We're wondering if we've asked too often on FB or if it is more widespread than just us. How'd you do?

Hi! Our organization did not do as well as we would have hoped, but we have three different campaigns going on.
I'm curious to know the strategies people used if their org made their goals.

We're a cat group and did postings/mailing about some medical cases from this year. I think we ended up doing 4 FB posts over the course of Monday/Tuesday.  I did a mailing 2 weeks ago asking them to remember the date. Then I did a message Monday at 6:30 pm and another Tuesday at 6:30 pm (I skipped anyone who had already given for this second message).  This year, we raised $14K via paypal (so email and anyone who went to our website) and $4K via FB donations. Last year it was $9K via paypal and $7K via FB. I did hear today that overall giving was up on Tuesday 15% from the last year but not sure what the source for that stat was.

Some people speculated that the FB lag was due to people being confused about the FB match for monthly donors or maybe people just don't trust FB to handle money. Until this campaign, we've found it to be a robust way to raise money.

I posted about it but we also do our large mailing campaign this time of the year by approaching businesses directly and having mail inserts in our local newspapers.  So we don't push it too hard but do want to draw attention to the shelter. Still waiting on the totals as I have not been told just yet.

I am the ED for our rescue and I am VERY proud of my board for coming together for us to tackle Giving Tuesday this year. I downloaded the Giving Tuesday workbook and then rolled it over to a google document and kind of revised a little bit so everyone had assigned tasks and we had a meeting each week starting at six weeks prior so we had a game plan to really tackle this project. Then the final two weeks we met twice a week to just check in with each other and make sure everyone had completed what needed to be done and was ready for the Monday/Tuesday reach. A huge bonus was a lot of what we had for assigned tasks are things rolling over to our end of year campaign so it worked very well that we were tackling two projects.

We are a newwe rescue and very small. We set our goal at $20,000 and had two matching donors of $10,000. We raised just under $15000 but then the next day a check came in for $5000 from a local vet so we really got to celebrate big time as we hit our goal plus doubled it ~ $40,000 will greatly help our mission! Our fundraising event on FB was not that great but we did keep doing posts daily starting at 4 weeks prior and the week prior did two a day and then we did hourly on giving Tuesday and then did two long live videos and kept the hourly posts going with our last one at 11:59 pm. We actually had a few people reach out and tell us great job that they loved seeing us really push for the ask, so that felt positive!

    Hi Elizabeth,
I'm Joslyn, a volunteer with Roatan Rescue, and we found that Facebook campaign to be a bust for us as well. Not sure why?! Maybe the FB algorithms are keeping most people from actually seeing our posts?! I'm not sure. But our email campaign worked best for us this time. We were able to raise about $6,000 so that was awesome!
