Where I live every tri-state shelter is full of cats and can not accept intakes it has been this way since june-july.  I have spoken with the shelters intake managers about  this post and  all said i could use thier shelter as references  So the two Indiana shelters one had over 400 cats and wasnt accepting  intakes.  It was public knowlage.  But they would  arrive the next morning there would be totes with more cats and kittens the other rescure never said the amount of cats but just not accepting intakes and the Owensboro shelter had over 200 not accepting intakes and they too would arrive with totes full of cats and kittens.  So my problem is when I type up this post with the info and how its stressfull this is on the workers and there are low cost clinics and our TNR program. That we are all responsible for this overpopulation.    Look where "The Old Ways" (killing cats) has gotten us.  So yeah thats the jest of it.  I come off sounding how I feel and thats not how I want this post to sound.  But I do want it to make ppl realize we are all responsible and we need to do better not only for the cats who wasnt given a choice and are the only true victims  for our children to teach them compasion and respect.  Any advice is welcomed

    Thank You

That sounds really frustrating! Maybe it would help to share things people can to do help instead of just telling them not to bring cats? Like only bringing in stray cats who are injured and leaving the rest where they found them?  Or can you provide supplies and advice to help people care for kittens or cats they find so they don't have to bring them in?

Also, I know it probably seems like it, but most people are actually not aware of what's going on in their local shelter. The animal welfare community might be, but the general public isn't. They only think about the shelter when they need it for some reason.
