Our rescue does not post on Nextdoor regularly, but on a few occasions we have made a post asking for a foster for a particular dog. I have seen a different rescue who regularly uses it to post updates on their intakes, asking for fosters and also asking for donations for a particular case. It seems to work for them in that it has increased their profile, but only (that I've seen) in cases where someone finds a dog or cat and seeks help, a poster will mention reaching out to the person who posts for that rescue.
