I am very excited to post my first topic here! I am a volunteer trainer with LA RESPONSIBLE PIT BULL OWNERS. Our mission is to provide affordable training ($25 per group class) and FREE pack walks that gives owner/handlers tools and a community where they can work on the skills that will prevent their newly adopted rescue or shelter dog from returning to the shelter.

Through my time volunteering, we do monthly pack walks with 7-10 shelter dogs. We give them a day out, a pack walk, we hang at a local spot and they get a hot dog, and then we go to Pet Food Express and give them baths. All of this enrichment has done wonders for these dogs, and it warms my heart to see some of the dogs find new homes after the good press we give them.

Another organization Dogs Playing for Life, hosts playgroups AT the shelters and does trainings. LARPBO and other Shelter Volunteers have started doing these too.

I'm curious to see where some of you have instituted playgroups or packwalks to help with socializing the dogs. If you haven't I highly recommend it.

    Hi Sarah!

I just want to commend you on a fantastic platform of lower cost training and group pack walking! As most of us know, undesirable behavioral issues keep an animal of finding their potential forever home. Any way you can provide enrichment and socialization is going to have a huge impact.

Great job and best of luck!
