What are the 4 social media sites you think are most important for an animal welfare organization to be on?  (I've also posted this on the small and mighty discussion group.  Will be interested to see if the responses are different.)  I'm anxious to get out there as much as we can -- but we are still starting out and can't do everything.  :-)

I actually would recommend 5. Facebook, IG, Tiktok, YouTube, and NextDoor. Tiktok reaches a younger demographic, and NextDoor is amazing for specifically helping to reunite Lost & Found. Fb & IG are main platforms, and YouTube is fantastic for reaching folks who hate social media platforms but are willing to subscribe to a channel and watch videos.

WAGS Pet Adoption uses Facebook, IG, TikTok, and Youtube. With these four platforms, we can reach many demographics and have different tools to share animal stories and tell our stories. We use the reel: posts and story options, music, no music, and live video for pleases and thank yous. We have started a new series called "Shelter Diaries" and are transparent about our work. We do our best not to be all about the hard stuff all the time, so of course, there are puppy and hero stories that we love to share.

Since the WAGS Open Arms Challenge  2024 is based on social media this year, we have watched what trends and fails. The biggest lesson we have learned is to repeat the message more than six times to get the public to understand the need. Be consistent with the messaging. For example, when we rolled out the "Shetler Diaries' stories, we used that term in the lead sentence so the public knew what story was coming. Now we have people refer to the series called "Shelter Diaries." For the dubbed videos in Spanish and Vietnamese, it is taking a moment to get some momentum on the video views, so we keep tweaking the message until we hit the sweet spot. Recently, we added text in dubbed and English to help support viewership. We hope this works, and if not, we will go back to the drawing board for a clever way to increase viewership, adoption, and fostering. The best part  for us is to have fun with the testing and feedback from our viewing public.  And yes, we have someone answering and liking all comments sent to us. Engagemnt is the last piece of an excellent social media campaign.

Hi everyone, Facebook and Next Door work great  for us locally, and of course IG, Tik Tok for a wider range. And there's always something new coming up!
