3.31.22 HASS Behavior Job-Alike Meetings: Post Adoption Behavior Support, Behavior Certification

The HASS Behavior job-alike meeting was 3/31/22 (there are now over 400 of us!)- a big thank you to all of our speakers!  Here's a recording of the session if you missed it or would like to share it with anyone. LOTS of interesting content .   If you'd like to join our group, please register.

 During this session we heard from:

  1. Camille Circe-Perrault, Animal Welfare Manager - Behavior, SPCA of Montreal who talked about successful follow-up regarding a cat who displayed self-harm behavior
  2. Tiff Shao, Behavior Manager, Humane Society of Western Montana (HSWM) who talked about the work they're doing at HSWM and the data they've collected that guides their work.
  3. Aimee Sadler, Founder and CEO, Dogs Playing for LIfe and Canine Center Florida. Aimee shared her knowledge and experience regarding transitioning more challenging dogs into homes, adopter follow-up and communicating with adopters when things don't work out.
  4. Rhea Moriarity, Director of Shelter and Clinic Operations, Longmont Humane who shared data and experiences from Longmont's behavior program.
  5. Allie Mayer, Manager of Shelter Partnerships, GoodPup, who talked to us about the GoodPup that can support adopters and pet owners to with their dog's behavior
  6. Kait Hembree VTS (Behavior), CVT, KPA CTP,  Head of Training, GoodPup, who also talked to us about GoodPup, as well as Veterinary Technician Specialty (Behavior) certification

Longmont Humane's Returned Adoption template (attached)

 Next month we'll be meeting on Thursday April 28 for the last in our 3 part series about community based behavior support.  We have another packed agenda- we really appreciate how many of you are willing to share what you're doing!  During this session will hear about a few organization's programs and talk about data – how we keep track of the success of our programs. During this meeting, we'll hear from:

 Miranda Hitchcock, CPDT-KA, Founder @ Every Dog Behavior and Training , will be talking about supporting private clients and talking through emergency situations with clients

  1. Lynn Olenik, Executive Director at Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, will be talking growing a support program on a shoestring budget and meeting the community's needs
  2. Camille Circe-Perrault, Animal Welfare Manager - Behavior, SPCA of Montreal will talk about their behavior support program
  3. Rhea Moriarty, Director of Shelter and Clinic Operations, Longmont Humane, will talk more about their Returned Adoption template and how they use it (keeping track of adoption success, the template is an attachment to this message)
  4. Amy Carver, CBCC-KA, Dog Behavior Follow Up (DBFU) Supervisor, Austin Pets Alive!, will talk about APA's DBFU program and data tracking.

 During our May job-alike meeting we'll be talking about assessing behavior – how do you assess and record behavior on a day to day basis.
