Camp Maddie: Behavior Edition Post-Event Workshop Series

About the Camp Maddie Behavior Workshop Series

If you joined the Camp Maddie: Behavior Edition online event (or have viewed the recordings on-demand), we’re offering the opportunity to go deeper into four different topics with the event’s speakers.

Four Workshop Series being offered:

1. Managing Protocols and Communications About Euthanasia Decisions

2. Getting Dogs Adopted Efficiently and Effectively

3. Building Resilience in Shelter Dogs

4. Coaching Dog-Dog Interactions

Each workshop series is hosted through Maddie’s University and will include 3 online Zoom classes. (For example, the series on Dog-to-Dog Interactions with Devan Amundsen consists of (3) 90-min classes every 2 weeks). Classes have been developed to help you create actionable plans and protocols.

Participating or Just Listening In?

There are two different ways you can apply to join a workshop series - either as an Active Participant or as an Auditor

  • Active Participants: Are expected to join all (3) Zoom classes of a workshop series, fully participate in discussions and interactive elements and complete online coursework or homework as determined by the speakers.

  • Auditors: Are expected to join all (3) Zoom classes of a workshop series, but not participate in class discussions, coursework or assignments. An auditor is only a listener in the classes attended.

Each workshop series is limited to 25 Active Participants and 50 Auditors.

*Please note: You can apply to be an Active Participant in more than one workshop series; however, you will only be allowed to enroll as an Active Participant in one.  The application will ask you to prioritize which workshop you’re most interested in actively participating in.

Active Participants and Auditors can be Auditors in any/all additional workshop series being offered. There is no limit to the number of workshop series you can audit.

For example: If you are enrolled as an active participant (student) for Dog to Dog Interactions with Devan Amundsen, you may also be an auditor for the Euthanasia Communications, Adoption Strategies, and/or Building Resilience workshops, if accepted).

How to Apply:

When you apply, you will be asked to note any workshop series you are interested in joining as an Active Participant. If you are not interested in joining as an Active Participant you can skip the question and move onto the Auditor question. If you are interested in applying as an Active Participant for more than one workshop series, you will need to rank the offerings in order of your preference.

If your application for Active Participation is not accepted, your application will automatically be entered in the pool of Auditor applications for the respective workshop series.

Applications are open until 12 pm noon Pacific Time (3 pm Eastern Time) on Friday, April 5th.

You will receive confirmation of acceptance at least 5 days before workshops are scheduled to begin.

Prerequisite: These Post-Event Workshop Series are only available to those who have joined the live online event (Camp Maddie: Behavior Edition) or have viewed the recordings on-demand.

Recordings: Class recordings will only be made available for those who are accepted as either an Active Participant or Auditor.

the media). The presenters each have experience transitioning an organization from chaos
surrounding euthanasia decisions to set expectations, procedures, and transparent
communications. Attendees will find this course useful even if making behavioral or medical
euthanasia decisions is something you’ve rarely or never done before; and those who have had to
