This is so true, and it works for gaining foster mentors, too! Every foster mentor we have, we have because we asked each person directly, citing them as a rockstar and someone who would be invaluable onboarding new fosters. Direct asks work!
(And I speak from experience... I've been convinced to take home lots of broken cats when I was asked directly!)
