  • 1.  Annual Data Report (ADR) for a non-profit recently formed

    Posted 11-20-2024 06:55 AM

    Hello

I was searching for a template to follow to create a ADR for  our non-profit that is just 3 month old since it was recognized as a 501c3 but I started as independently rescuer this year. I have data of adoptions and intakes, donations but I don't have a last year Annual Data Report (ADR)

Can I be taken seriously in a grant request without this data for my first grant application? How to go about it and any advise for organizations that just began?

Hi, it's understandable to be concerned about not having a full year's data. While having an Annual Data Report (ADR) from the previous year is ideal, you can still apply for grants by focusing on your progress so far. Highlight your adoption rates, intakes, donations, and any key milestones in your first few months. Be transparent about being a new organization, but show your passion, commitment, and the impact you're already making. Many funders understand that new organizations may not have a full year's data yet.

    Good luck!

    Thank you Emily!

I often joke that passion, collaboratively thinking and ideas per minute  are my biggest assets. I was  in highlighting the  key milestones and impact in the short 3 months, adoption rates or graph per month, and will add some of your suggestions for this year's ADR while I grow as organization .

Extremely thankful for this forum because is validation that I am thinking in the right track but at the same time steers me in the right direction while I learn from the more experience members!

I will echo Emily's great suggestions! Highlighting your progress in the first 3 months is a great place to start. I would also suggest 2 additional areas to report on: 1) adding in some metrics about the need in your region or community and how your organization is positioned to impact this and 2) what your targets are for your first year based on resourcing and capacity. This second point granting organizations like to see as it will help them understand where their funds are going.

I'd be happy to chat further if you would like - I am a data geek at heart :)
