There are a couple of us here at Human Animal Support Services (HASS) that are HUGE fans of the ASV Guidelines so we were thrilled to participate in last week's ASV Guidelines Reboot Camp! After learning about all of the great new additions I couldn't help but wonder: how are you using the ASV Guidelines to support changes in your organization? Is there an area that validates the work you've been doing to improve animal welfare in your shelter? How will you leverage the power of this best practice manual to pave the way for extraordinary care?
For me, I was most excited to see the recommendations for dog housing- both the diagram of the kennel set up and the guidelines limiting cohousing to 2-4 dogs. Wouldn't it be amazing to see our shelter dogs afforded more space for success, wellbeing and safety?
