Hi everyone,
I'm excited to announce that during our next job-alike meeting on Thurs Oct 26 at 9 am PT/noon ET, we'll be joined by Erin Jones who will be talking about The Ethical Application of LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) in Shelter Behavior.
This presentation will cover:
- Each level of the Humane Hierarchy of Behaviour Change
- How we would evaluate cases ethically and reduce aversive/intrusiveness in practice (adherence in a challenging environment)
- Considerations for a busy shelter environment
- Case examples
- Learning opportunities through the IAABC Foundation and other additional resources
About our speaker: Erin is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) and Accredited Dog Trainer (ADT) with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), and an Accredited Animal Behaviour Consultant (ABC) with Companion Animals New Zealand (CANZ). She also holds a PhD in Human-Animal Studies, a MSc in Anthrozoology, and a BSc in Psychology and Anthropology. She works as an independent researcher, author, and scholar as well as working for the IAABC Foundation both as an Educator, social media content creator, and as an editor for the IAABC Foundation Journal. Originally from Canada, Erin founded the Merit Dog Project in Christchurch, New Zealand where she now lives with her husband, Mike, and dog, Juno.
