My rescue is specifically designed for cats and dogs with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Naturally most people looking to adopt from us either know about CH already or are looking for a "special needs" pet. I am having trouble reaching the community population who are unaware of this condition, or ones who have a different idea of what it is. We all know when most people hear something they tend to take it as fact. In our case, these facts about CH have caused vets we work with to have a bias against CH, as well as people in the community. We hold events, information booths, etc to try and educate correctly. We have a twice yearly event Cat-N-K9 Cuddlefest as well. The community comes out and spends one on one time with an animal of their choice with CH, we have education sessions at this event, the children have a craft table with all CH related items they can do, like coloring pages, making a bobble head cat or dog etc. I guess im looking for some guidance on how we can reach the community on a level where they can take our information seriously. Most tend to turn away when they find out we, the founders are not veterinarians, because-all vets are smarter than us so what they say on CH must be true. Any tips, tricks, etc would be very helpful. Our goal as the rescue is to stop the euthanisia of animals with CH because of the stigma that they were wrongfully given. Thanks all.
