Maddie's Community Conversations will not hold a call in observance of Labor Day in the United States on Monday, September 2, 2024. We will see you again for the next Community Conversation on September 9th!
Please find a message regarding Labor Day from the Community Conversations Steering Committee below:
This national holiday is meant to honor the American workforce and how their contributions and achievements led us to the world we live in today. Please take time on this day to reflect on what that means for you in your life. Think about yourself, your family, your community and the role they may play in the labor force. We also ask that you think about where and how we live-and how labor forces historically placed us in the society and lifestyle that we call normal today. Celebrate leaders and changemakers throughout American history. Consider the laws and regulations (and their advocates) to protect laborers' working conditions, hours, wage, and age. Additionally, consider the disproportionate, and often uncompensated contribution of enslaved, immigrant, and marginalized communities to the labor force, especially during American diasporas; the changes in women and children as parts of the labor force; challenges during times of war; and the reality of the disproportionate beneficiaries of their in innumerous contributions.
In animal well-being, we experience a labor force intricacies with numerous barriers and successes. What does the workforce of your organization look like? How are they being honored, celebrated, lifted, and appreciated? Take this Labor Day to reflect on labor in your organization.
Maddie's Fund thanks each of you for the amazing work you do every day, many hours of thankless work, dedication, and even sometimes grueling physically. Your dedication to animals and their well-being is seen, felt, and appreciated - THANK YOU!
