This is a long shot, but am hunting for as much intel as I can possibly get on our planned endeavor, so I am putting it out here as naive as possible!
We are working for/with the community in an incorporated town within the boundaries of the Crow Reservation.
There are spay and neuter clinics, yes, but:
People don't make it their priority
people don't have a car to go there
people don't have gas money to go there
people can't make their never leashed animals make to go there
the list is endless ….
plus, there are many strays that never will go there.
so talking to a local rancher here, the idea evolved to find 2 vets quick in neutering males.
Find 2 good shooters with a dart gun following the bait girl with a female in heat on a leash.
Take the males out, let the pick up crew load them and transport them to the locally set up vets. Get them neutered and rabies shots, then the return crew brings them back where taken out.
We have CTVT spreading here, 2 known cases already, much more in Northern Cheyenne Rez next door.
Please give me all your thoughts on this, but we need to put a lid on the dog fights, the spread of the cancer, the puppy population of course. I want to hear all your thoughts in order to paint a clear picture before starting.
Thank you all, let's keep up good work
