    The reality of today's shelter struggles


    Best Friends has been analyzing national data on intake and adoptions for shelters and noticed that the overall data doesn't match what many of our partners are experiencing daily. Our team decided to divide the data by municipals, private organizations with municipal contracts and purely private organizations without a contract. This week's Best Friends Network editorial shows the surprising differences (like a 17% increase in adoptions at municipals) and how one specific organization type is key to addressing the overall gap between intake and adoptions.
