I run a small rural shelter in Oklahoma we only intake dogs. On average we intake maybe 6 dogs a month rarely ever see abandoned litters of puppies. January was unusually busy, and a litter of puppies. The last time we seen a similar number of dogs in a single month was the January of 2023. Only this time we were infected with Distemper.

I am reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this in their shelters. What are your protocols? When did you experience it? How long did it take for you to know it was in your shelter? Did you shutdown part or all of your facility? How long before you were free of this terrible disease?

Thank you for your feed back .
