This is a great resource and what I used when launching our program years ago.

There is a tool kit for shelters that should give you everything you need to get started. Doggy Day Out programs can quantifiably increase adoption rates, particularly for large dogs. The shelter is the one who determines which dogs go, not the customer, so you can steer dogs that are simply overlooked to the program more readily. In Sacramento, our stats showed that over 70% of the dogs that went on outings got adopted as a direct result of the trip, either by the customer, a friend or someone they encountered on their trip. I am a big fan. Good luck!

Interested in starting a Doggy Day Out Program. What parameters, if any do you follow when matching up a volunteer with a dog? Dog Parks, interactions with other dogs etc? Any examples anyone would like to share of their terms/conditions for volunteer to sign?
