Animal Welfare Professionals

I received an email claiming our rescue had been awarded over three thousand dollars in grant money.  There were administrative and processing fees of around $900 that needed to be paid.  They said they would send a check for the entire amount and that we were to send a check for the administrative fees after we had received the grant.  

Anyone ever received an email like this?   I'm pretty sure it is a scam.

Hi,

$900 fee doesn't sound realistic.

And if there's a fee, the check you get is after the fee paid and you get the balance .

It's a scam .

yeah I have never heard of a grant coming with administrative fees. I would say it's a scam.

This  sounds like a scam where thy get you bank information and then wipe out your account.  This happen to several elderly people in our community.

Unfortunately it is definately a scam. i work at a credit union and deal with it everyday. We all have to be so careful with everything from snail mail to email to calls and texts. Stay safe!

No grant our rescue has ever received had administrative fees, so I would say this is a scam. If the email came from a legitimate foundation/organization, I would contact them (not using any links in the email) and report this so they know someone is using their name in this manner.
