This may be an odd question, but do any shelters participate in or would be interested in participating in an employee exchange program?
I am part of a small non-profit organization with municipal contracts. We are slower-paced compared to some organizations and are located in a small, rural community. We have a lot of great things going for us, but we also have areas that need improvement. My team has only ever experienced sheltering, as it exists in our organization. We try to send senior staff to the Expo and take advantage of other learning opportunities, but I would love for my team to experience working at another organization. To see what other places are doing well and learn about the struggles other communities may face. It is easy to get tunnel vision where we are, and growth and change can be challenging to introduce when everyone is so comfortable with the only thing they've ever known.
I'm just curious if anyone has ever traded staff for a week or so, or is this a completely insane idea?
