I'm looking for some input on a unique opportunity we're considering involving specialized transports.
In addition to being a Center Director, I'm also a private pilot with access to my own aircraft. I've recently learned about several organizations-such as Pilots N Paws-that connect volunteer pilots with shelters and rescues to assist with animal transport.
We're currently exploring whether participating in one of these programs could align with our Center's goals and potentially serve as a creative and engaging way to connect with the community using resources already available to us in a unique way. I love flying and figure I could donate some time and fuel for a cause.
That said, I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with these kinds of partnerships-whether good, bad, or somewhere in between. How have these collaborations worked for your organization? Have they helped with capacity, outreach, or animal outcomes? Any lessons learned or considerations we should keep in mind?
