There was a federal grant, very large grant, for victims of violence and their pets. I say "was" because it was closed July 15th or so. There was another that specified a women's shelter and their pets.  The grants were large, $3M and $1M.   We did not have any land to build this on, so we could not apply for it. It is absolutely needed with homeless and their pets. The community is split on having one in our area.   Here is the link I was given: https://www.grants.gov/search-grants

You can find the grants as closed under the department of agriculture and justice. You really have to dig.

Red Rover Foundation has specific grants for helping families in crisis stay with their pets. They have a webinar next week in conjunction with "Don't Forget the Pets" to discuss keeping families with their pets. We have a very small program where we house the kitties of two families who have lost their home. We take care of their kitties while they're looking for a place to stay that's pet friendly. Like I said, its a very small program and we're looking for funds to expand it a little. One of the problems is getting the word out to the family crisis shelters. It's definitely a work-in-progess program.
