Hello! We are new to the group, so pardon the interruption if this is not the right place to post this request. I am writing to request information/advice from others who may have hosted similar fundraising events as the one described below. Any information is helpful:)
We are a small non-profit organization in S. Central KY Lakes region that has started an annual event to benefit our 2 county animal shelters. The event is called "Bark & Brunch at the Beach." Here are a few details:
- Event is held at a State Resort Park that sits on a 5500-acre lake in S. Central KY. (BEAUTIFUL setting and scenery.)
- We have an easy-to eat 'brunch' with virgin OJ or mimosas. Pets get a light meal also! (Puppy pancakes, Puppy Butter, Pup Cups, etc.)
- We have approximately 1/2 mile of beach and lakefront to utilize for our event.
- Our first event was small by design but well attended for what we expected.
- We are wanting to add a pop-up market this year with vendors that provide dog/cat food, products, equipment, toys, etc.
- We would LIKE to add a high-value attraction like Dock Dogs or an agility demonstration. (PLENTY of room to accommodate that also). That is our highest cost.
We would appreciate any information from groups that have organized events like this in the past and can share lessons learned.
We would also appreciate information on any grants that we may be able to obtain to help fund the high-value demonstration or activity.
