Hello all, we are a very small rescue that is trying to get a physical brick and mortar building.  We currently are mostly foster based but do house all of our rescue K-9's at my home where we are licensed at.  We were donated property last year and have been slowly trying to get our ducks in a row.  It is an old school building and Quonset hut all built in the early 1900's. We have come to the terms that we will not be able to save the school building (due to the amount of water damage from the roof leaking so long, but we have plans for the 40x100 Quonset building.  We also got an office trailer donated to us and which we have converted into a foster location for our cats.  We have run into a huge problem with our septic system.  It needs replaced. The estimated cost for this is just over $10,000. Does anyone have a fundraiser or any ideas that can help us raise this amount of money in a short amount of time?  We have considered asking our County Commissioners for help as we are the only rescue for our area and do a lot of animal control work for the county.

It sounds like you have some good Samaritans and community support since you have gotten the property and trailer donated. If you don't have a donor (or donors) you could go to with this request, I suggest setting up a Go Fund Me page AND reaching out to your local media to see if they would cover what you're trying to do and the problem you've come up against. They could announce the Go Fund Me page to make donations and will probably post the link on their website. Reach out to your County Commissioners, too, this is their problem to help solve.

If you haven't already, start a database of everyone you've ever received donations from or helped in any way and plan to do a couple of appeal letters a couple of times each year. Also, digital resources for doing the same (email with donation button, facebook fundraiser, etc..) These are things you can accomplish without a huge investment of time/resources and you don't need a bunch of volunteers to pull them off. 

For now, see if you can get emergency grant funding to help with some of it. If you do identify a larger donor, ask them to offer their donation as a matching fund challenge and do a media blitz on that. Best of luck!
