    Just had to share this:  I received my weekly reminder email yesterday from my local County Waste Management/Recycling Services Department and was thrilled to see a message highlighting our local county animal shelter's wish list! I love that these two county agencies partnered together to get the word out.



    Kudos to you and your team for making this happen, @Celeste Ingrid! Have you seen an uptick in donations from this email? Do you have any advice for other county animal services agencies who want to try something like this?  

    Has anyone else working at a county or municipal shelter done something similar and had positive results?​​​​

    It reminds me of one of my favorite foster recruitment ideas, out of Dallas. I believe it went out in the city's water bills.

    Actually, as much as I'd love to say there was a dedicated effort to partner with another County agency to share our wish list, I believe this happened because our list was mentioned in a general Sacramento County newsletter, and the Waste Management/Recycling Services Department then picked it up and so kindly shared it within their communications. However, I will say that we have fabulous relationships with all County departments, and they are always happy to promote our shelter!

    Wow, even better that it was unsolicited and your wish list was mentioned in two separate county communications. So awesome to hear that you have great relationships with other county departments and they happily promote your shelter. Makes me proud to be in Sacramento County!
