  • 1.  Help with building a TNR program

    Posted 10-25-2022 11:38 AM
    Hi all,
I am struggling with building a TNR program for our department and I'm wondering if anyone has contact information or would like to volunteer themselves to be my mentor.  I have seen all the resources available for building this program and understand the goal, but I have a few challenges I would like to work through. I would really like to have a more personal conversation about this program to really describe our plight and explore options.

    Thank you,
    #CommunityCatManagement

I'm happy to talk with you also Malinda.   Our organization is grassroots in Tulsa, OK and a non-profit vs. municipal shelter.  But we do work with our shelter and have created some great shortcuts together to make RTH more successful.     ttowntnr@gmail.com

Hello Samantha, I'm Myriam from Charleston, SC. Would you mind sharing the same information with me, please? I've been feeling like all the doors are closed here.

    Hi Malinda!

I would be happy to chat with you as well. In my role, I helped found the TNR program for my shelter. September was the 1 year anniversary of our program, and in October we TNR'ed our 200th cat!

A couple ways I've helped build community support include hosting an Outdoor Cat Shelter building/decorating event for kids and presenting at high school Ecology classes.

I'm doing the same here in Charleston, SC. I'm trying to understand all the terminology related to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), but I often feel overwhelmed. I've obtained some information from the Maddie's Pet Forum that may be helpful. I'd be happy to share it with you if you're interested.
