Hi Kelly,
I started a similar thread in the Small & mighty organizations forum. I second Tom's suggestion of reaching out to Sindeee Lee Gillespie. She reached out to me and has been very helpful regarding dealing with the stress of this subject. Another rescue suggested starting a FB group so volunteers can share their feelings. We currently have a FB group just for our volunteers where we share updates about our sanctuary and the animals and I do think it helps. We don't have a dog/cat shelter but a farm and exotic animal sanctuary with many surrenders being older and/or medically needy. We always let the volunteers who help care for the animals know of any issues as they arise so they can be prepared (as much as you can prepare for something like this). I would love to hear others' ideas as well.

Subject: Helping volunteers deal with grief
I would love to hear how others are helping volunteers deal with grief over the loss of animals at your shelter (resources provided, actions/services offered, etc).
